Meet Dane Shinault of Stewardship Retirement Planning

At Interworks, we’re proud to be home to professionals who are passionate about serving our community—and Dane Shinault, founder of Stewardship Retirement Planning, is a perfect example.

After spending eight years in financial planning, Dane recently launched Stewardship Retirement Planning in Mount Airy with a simple mission: helping business owners, families, and retirees make confident financial decisions through thoughtful retirement, tax, estate, and investment planning. His approach goes beyond the numbers, focusing on building long-term relationships and providing guidance that helps clients navigate life’s biggest financial decisions with clarity and confidence.

A Virginia Tech graduate originally from Carroll County, Virginia, Dane lives in the area with his wife, Hannah, and their two young sons, Easton and Kai. When he’s not meeting with clients, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family, hitting the golf course, or fueling his longtime passion for drag racing—a hobby he’s enjoyed since he was just eight years old.

For Dane, launching Stewardship Retirement Planning wasn’t just about starting a business—it was about creating a client experience centered on trust, intentional planning, and genuine service. Inspired by his faith and the idea of being good stewards of what we’ve been given, he believes financial planning is about helping people care well for their future, their families, and the opportunities ahead.

As he was building his business, Dane chose Interworks because he wanted more than just an office. He was looking for a professional environment where meaningful connections happen naturally. Since joining the community, he’s built relationships with fellow business owners, collaborated with local professionals, and became even more connected to the Mount Airy business community.

One of his favorite things about working from Interworks is the balance between professionalism and community. It provides a welcoming place to meet with clients while also creating opportunities to connect with other entrepreneurs who share a passion for growing their businesses and supporting one another.

Outside the office, Dane enjoys exploring local favorites like The Loaded Goat and 13 Bones, and he believes one principle applies to both life and business: consistency compounds. Whether it’s financial planning, relationships, or building a business, he knows that lasting success comes from showing up every day and making thoughtful decisions over time.

As Stewardship Retirement Planning continues to grow, Dane is excited to become even more involved in the Mount Airy community, including hosting an educational financial planning seminar at Interworks this September.
